I ran after the squirrel with a bushy tail like a bush. I hear the branches snap under my feet, as I ran closer to a bare tree. The squirrel ran up the tree, and I followed. I tried to press myself against the tree in order not to fall off. I heard a branch crack under me.

The sapling I planted last year grew like normal trees except this tree appears to have stunted in growth. I walk along the dirt and pebbled path, my shoes kicking up the dirt while it blows away in the wind. I find a note taped to my tree and peel it off. “Don’t come any closer”: it puts an off-setting feel to me, and I look up to find a gnome sitting on the branch. Is he alive or did someone leave him here? At this question, I decide to investigate further who wrote the note.

I was on a walk when I heard someone talk. When I stared to talk, the figure started to walk. When he started to walk, then I stated to climb. I climb the tree, and I cannot see. I climb high and higher, but the man walks away. Then I fall and cry- no more adventures for today.

I walk down the road toward my grammama's house to go eat some dang good food. I pass by the tree of my childhood. I would sit on the branches and eat my peanut butter and banana sandwich. I would sit at the bottom of the tree and read a nice book. I would sit with my friends and play games. Yahtzee, UNO, make-believe, tag, hide and seek. We would pretend it was a pirate ship, a castle, fortress, a boat, and pretend that it was our secret hideout despite it being out in the open. I check my watch and realize I’m late for grammama's house. I sprint over looking back at the tree and giving a nod as if to say, ‘Thank you for the good memories.’

As I walk down the crumbled road, bike in hand, I come upon a dead tree against the blue sky. Upon the tree, there is a shoe box. Inside the shoe box, I find 3 pairs of Airforce Ones. They have something rancid smelling inside of the box, almost like a dead animal. I pull out the shoe, expecting a squirrel twitching with death. Instead...

I sit there. Watching cars go by. Then a man comes along and takes a picture of me and walks away, not saying a word. I sit there the rest of my days until a different man cuts me down, ending my days there.

- One last tree
- I can’t live without it
- And it can’t live without me
- As the trees leaves change colors slowly throughout the way
- My hair and skin turn white and grey
- Oh as I age I realize that we are the same
- But only one of us will rise to fame
