Once upon a time there was a light pole with a green-shaded light. All the bugs went near it and also did one little girl. She wrapped herself in an old maroon jacket and a blue-knitted hat. She would drink her hot cocoa every morning, sitting in the snow. She would watch the blue sky and the clouds as they passed. - Sydney B.
"The Tweath Flicker": Once upon a time in a land far, far away, a young boy lay shivering in the street. Snow flakes slowly fell onto his bright-red cheeks. He had a brown burlap sack draped around him for warmth. He looked up at the flickering street light counting each time it flickered. Once, twice, thrice…. And on the tweath flicker the light went out. The boy then made a wish as he knew it would take a miracle to survive. I wish…. *flick- the streetlight turned back on, but with all the light returned, the boy was nowhere to be found. - Charlotte C.
Once upon a time I woke up in a street lamp. The light was brighter than the sun. Then I noticed that I was in a glass box. And some dude in a sweater vest was taking a picture. Then I noticed I would never escape this prison. - Jake B.
Once upon a time I saw the lamp shining brightly against the spring sky with a green hue encased within the lamp case. The leaves gone, but I tell myself, “It’ll be there the next day” and begin walking to work within my winter jacket. I begin walking away, but I look back and see the lamp for the last time… - James M.
